In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation and the American Warrior Initiative partnered to honor two U.S. veterans. A residential housing “Boot Camp” was held in collaboration with this event to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to handle the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans with excellence.
One of the honorees at the event was Chelsey Johnson. Chelsey is a U.S. military veteran who received a Purple Heart and lost one and a half lungs during treatment for his exposure to Agent Orange. Fairway branches in Sioux Falls and AWI were able to honor Chelsey with a grant of $12,000 to pay his home mortgage and utility bills for a year while he is recovering from treatment.
Another honoree at the event, Robert Solorzano, was a Black Hawk helicopter pilot who suffered injuries from a crash in Afghanistan. Robert owns a company that specializes in embroidery for service dog vests. Fairway and AWI honored Robert with a special piece of equipment that he needs for his business as well as a grant for $15,000 to help his business.
Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, which seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.
